FITZHUGH,
NORMAN RICHARD: b. 12/8/1831 in Alexandria. Enl. 4/1/62 in Co. E, as
Cpl. Became Capt. and a.a.g. to Genl. Stuart, 6/21/62; promoted to
Major, 7/25/62. d. 1914. According to family accounts, Fitzhugh became a
prisoner of the Sioux on the plains before the war and a chief adopted
him as a son. He moved to
St. Johns Co. Florida in 1876. In
1909 he was living in Picolata Florida, “very feeble and infirm…”
m. Mary Foot Lynde in Utah in 1859.
Fitzhugh died in St. Johns Co. on May 13, 1915.

Dec. 1861, then no further official record. It is said that Gayle left service
due to problems with eyesight and typhoid, and later joined Mosby. d. 11/8/1928
in King George Co.
GOODWIN, LITTLETON, JR.:
Transferred to Co. E on 11/5/61 from the Fredericksburg Arty. Detailed as
courier for Genl Stuart, Jan. 1863 thru March 1864. Absent sick at 10/1/64 final
roll. Died in the Soldiers' Home at Richmond 1/13/1911.

GREEN, WILLIAM E.: Descendants of Green assert that he was a member
of Company E, 9th Va. Cav., and his obituary makes the same claim.
He has no official service record. Green
died in D.C. on Dec. 14, 1909, age 86. Since
he was older than 35 through most of the war, he might have been a late-war
conscript when the age brackets were raised.
